Located in Leicester city centre opposite the train station, The Y is full of character and offers conference and room hire facilities in a friendly environment. This multi-purpose building features a theatre, bar, meeting room and sports hall, with bespoke services to suit a wide range of events and budgets. Our conference facilities were newly refurbished over the Summer of 2008 as part of the Places of Change programme.



The Y Theatre

Built around 1900 the theatre is Leicester's oldest surviving theatre and retains much of the original Victorian interior décor. The Y provides an interesting venue for conferences and is available to hire for evening and day-time events. It has an adaptable auditorium which can be set out with rows, tables or exhibition space and also has a balcony with fixed seating. Your event can be complimented with catering, a licensed bar, breakout rooms, audiovisual, technical, reception and box office services. The conference capacity is from 30 to 300 people.

Flexible Spaces

Our facilities are used for conferences, job fairs, meetings, presentations, training, live entertainment, private functions and parties, dance classes, sports and arts activities.

Flexible seating allows for set up in rows, cabaret, board room, class room style or clear floor space. Presentation aids and audiovisual equipment are available on request. Sports users have access to changing rooms and showers.

The building has a wheelchair accessible toilet and all spaces have either ground floor or lift access. Guide dogs are welcome. Please let us know if you require further access information or assistance.

All tea, coffee and sugar is fair trade. We can also direct you to a choice of external caterers who can organise buffet lunches or the event organiser can book their own catering services.
