Classy designer boutique set to open on Granby Street – Grand opening on Thursday, June 17.“Fashion fades, only style remains the same" - Coco Chanel
Leicester is about to have a top class dress agency stocking designer clothes and accessories. Shoppers will be delighted to know their money goes to help the city’s young homeless.
The stYle Dress Agency in Granby Street opens its doors for the first time on Thursday, June 17 at 10am and customers can join staff for a glass of wine while they browse throughout the day.
The boutique, which is also an exclusive Romanntique lingerie outlet, is on the corner of Leicester YMCA’s iconic Grade 2 listed building next door to the city’s Y Theatre in East Street.
The unique agency, which has been designed in conjunction with YMCA England Shops and Leicester YMCA will be open from 9am until 5pm, Mondays to Saturdays. Customers looking to make a bit of cash from unwanted designer and top quality high street items will be able to claim 40% of the sale price when their item is sold in the shop.
The store will have two full-time members of staff, Rosemarie and Hannah, and presents volunteering opportunities for young people from Leicester YMCA to and gain valuable retail experience.
Paul Brown, Chief Executive of Leicester YMCA said: “We found we had a shop vacancy and decided we liked the idea of opening a dress agency with a difference.
“People can spend in the region of £200 on a dress, wear it a couple of times and they then often just leave it in their wardrobe gathering dust, and we hope we can now appeal to their conscience and donate these clothes to us or earn 40% through the agency.
“With stYle, shoppers can buy previously owned designer clothes and accessories knowing the money will go to a fantastic cause – helping the young homeless. We are proud to be recycling designer chic to support our work with young people.’’
“We are delighted to be able to offer a classy on the corner dress agency, especially as the rest of Granby Street is currently being re-developed and we are now firmly part of this programme.’’
Rosemarie Lott, Store Manager said: “The response so far has been very good and people are very excited about the opening of a quality dress agency.
“Interest from passers-by has been excellent and we are looking forward to opening and being able to sell a variety of stylish clothes in Leicester.’’
