A message from Paul Brown, CEO: “As we face the historic crisis of Covid-19 there has been a momentous effort by staff to keep our core services running as normally as possible, whilst we had no choice but to put other services on hold.
Our young people are doing well, but the uncertainty and isolation that they are facing is having an impact on their mental health, many of whom already face complex issues. We have stepped up support for our residents by providing a meal each day to enable them to follow government guidelines and ease the pressure on them to go out shopping. We’ve also reduced rents for those in move-on houses to give them better financial footing through these challenging times.
Our children’s home remains at capacity and The Y Advice and Support Project team has continued to support rough sleepers after relocating the service. The situation is ever changing and we are keeping vigilant and ready to adapt quickly, whilst protecting our staff and vulnerable beneficiaries.
The full impact of this situation is yet to be felt by communities and the charities that serve them, but we have strong foundations and strong resolve. We will see a loss of fundraising income and thank everyone who has rallied round to support us. We hope that anyone able to give will consider donating online to help keep young people safe at such a critical time and to rebuild their lives in the coming months.”
