With staying indoors being pivotal right now, we have a list of activities and ideas which can help keep you productive, connected and healthy.

Museums and Art Galleries

There are many different museums and art galleries which are giving virtual tours, livestreams and sharing different work digitally. So if you enjoy a day out to a gallery, why not take a virtual trip.


There are many different theatres which are offering online streaming of different musicals, so if you are a theatre fanatic, or a newbie to life on stage, this is a great opportunity to see something new.




For the next 2 months, The National Theatre will be putting on a recording of a live theatre show which will be available for 7 days until the next show is announced.

Filmed on Stage have a long list of musicals you can stream online, so head to their website to see if there is anything you are interested in watching.


Here are some other ways to stay entertained with events, books and other entertainment all from the comfort of home.

Eventbrite have online events and lectures which you can virtually attend throughout the up and coming weeks. If there is something you are interested in, you can watch along at home.

If comedy is your thing, The Cosmic Shambles have created a ‘Stay at Home Festival’ where you can get access to virtual shows and podcasts from a variety of comedians including James Lancaster, Lost Voice Guy, Josie Long and many more. There is a schedule of up and coming shows, with access to archived content so you can watch or listen at your own leisure.

If a night in with a board game sounds like your perfect evening, now you can do this at ease. You can play a selection of board games online with friends or with a virtual computer. All you need to do is make an account and let your friends know so they can join too!

TuneIn have list of audio entertainment from a range of different genres which you can listen to at your own leisure.

E-Books are a great way to read novels without having to head to a library or bookshop. Manybooks have lots of free E-books which are categorised into genres. So, if you are a fan of Action and Adventure books for example, you can head straight to that category to see what books they have available.

If you enjoy a trip to the zoo, you can virtually see some animals on live webcams that are being streamed online at Edinburgh Zoo. You can also learn a little bit more about each animal and how it lives

Escape From Home have 3 online escape rooms which you can solve from anywhere. All you have to do is find the hidden passwords to enter the next room until you escape. Get your thinking caps on and have a go!

Duolingo is an interactive and engaging tool to start learning a language. With over 3o to choose from, there will be something for everyone. So if you fancy a try at a new something new, head to the Duolingo site or download the app.


It is important to stay active for both physical and mental health when spending more time indoors. Here are some ways you can get active whilst at home.

Yoga is a great way to keep a healthy mind and body. Yoga with Adriene is a YouTube channel which guides you through Yoga for all levels. A recommended place to start is at the 30 Days of Yoga where you will learn different aspects of Yoga, but can follow a 30 day schedule to keep you on track.

The NHS Fitness Studio has lots of tools to help guide you for exercise from home. They have tips for aerobic exercise, strength and resistance, Pilates and yoga as well as other fitness plans.

Joe Wicks, also known as The Body Coach, is livestreaming exercise classes every morning at 9am. This is a great way to get you out of bed and joining in a class live. You can also watch at any time after the broadcast if you are not a morning bird.


Stay Connected

Here are some other ways to stay connected to those who don’t live with you during this time apart.

If you and your friends have a Netflix account, you can enjoy watching films and have a chat without breaking social distancing rules. Through a google chrome extension, you can watch a film or TV programme on your own devices whilst chatting live with others.

Houseparty is a great app where you can make group calls and play games such as heads-up or trivia.  It can be downloaded in the app store of your smartphone.

Psych! is a trivia app that you and your friends make up fake answers to real triva questions. You can play when apart from your friends which makes it a great way to stay connected and have fun.
