FUNDRAISE

This Christmas why not choose one of our two Christmas funds to either give our young residents  some festive cheer, or help them gain the skills they need to set them off on the right foot for their future (not just Christmas!).   Given the current situation, we are encouraging our supporters to donate online to one of the two funds below to minimise the handling of many items, but rest assured we’ll make sure everyone receives a gift.

Y Skills Matter: Big Give 1st – 8th December 2020

Have your donation doubled when you support our Big Give Christmas Challenge between 1st– 8th December 2020. This exciting learning programme gives formerly homeless young people living at The Y the chance to develop their skills, creativity and resilience for the tough road ahead. The Y will also introduce a new theatre and technical skills module, with work placement and progression opportunities in The Y Theatre.  We introduced new skills coaches in August as part of our response to helping young people through lockdown and it’s really important to keep it going! Christmas Shoeboxes

We are so very grateful for all the wonderful shoeboxes we have received over the years, however, in light of the current situation, it is preferable for you to donate to one of the options above. If you still wish to give a physical gift, please get in touch so we can safely manage delivery and storage. Items we would happily accept up to Wednesday 16th December include:

  • Gift Sets – perfume/aftershave/make-up etc
  • Arts and Crafts items – notebooks/felt pens/colouring pencils/nice colouring books etc
  • Toiletries – shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/toothpaste/brush
  • Deodorants – (MUST be roll-ons – NO aerosols)
  • Hair Products (Pump sprays/gel/wax/bobbles etc – NO aerosols)

  • Non-Perishable Foods (Pot Noodle/Cereal Bars etc)

Big thanks for your Christmas donations!

Back in December 2019, we were overwhelmed with the number of donations we received at The Y.

Donations included festively wrapped parcels and shoeboxes (and other boxes) containing festive treats, gloves, socks, dishes and bowls, toiletries, clothing and more.

Local schools, colleges, church and guide groups were all very busy ensuring The Y’s residents had something to open on Christmas Day. Read more
